Choose a stock-update workflow
Start with what happened to the physical stock. Recording a delivery, moving goods between branches and correcting a counted holding are different tasks.
Choose the task
| What you need to do | Where to start | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| Record goods received using their SKUs | Receive Stock | Receiving outlet, exact product/variant and received quantity |
| Find a supplier order or split delivery | Purchase Orders | Order, supplier and delivery state; avoid recording the same receipt twice |
| Review goods moving between branches | Outlet Stock Transfer | Source, destination, options, quantity and processing status |
| Compare a physical count with expected stock | Stock Audit | Scope, outlet and counting plan |
| Prepare many stock values in a file | Stock-only CSV update | Identifiers, outlet scope and replace/add semantics |
| Investigate the current recorded holding | Stock Management | Product/variant, outlet and tracking level |
Example: delivery or recount?
Twenty newly delivered units and a shelf count of twenty describe different events. Keep the receipt quantity and the current physical holding distinct. Check the relevant workflow before entering the number so the same goods are not added twice or treated as an unexplained adjustment.
Keep the stock level consistent
Check whether stock is tracked on the product, a variant or a kit. Review the same identifier and outlet in the transaction and the stock screen. A shop-wide total does not explain one branch’s holding by itself.
Keep evidence with the change
Retain the delivery, transfer or audit reference and a short explanation. If the result is unexpected, inspect the saved document and current stock before repeating a submission.
