Assign a customer to a group
A customer’s group is a separate setting from the group’s title or the product’s price rows. Confirm the customer record before changing its assignment.
Find and review the assignment
- Open Orders & Customers → Customer List.
- Find the intended customer and choose Edit. When creating a new record, use Add customer.
- In the customer details editor, find Customer Group under Login details.
- Review the current selection and choose the intended existing group. The group selector offers None and the account’s named groups.
- Leave unrelated login, credit, billing and delivery fields unchanged when your task is only group assignment.
- For an intended assignment, use Save changes. Reopen the same customer and check the group.
- Check the affected product price or discount with that customer in the intended sales channel.
Example: one customer becomes eligible for trade pricing
Check the intended Trade group, the customer’s assignment and the relevant product’s group-price rows. Then compare the same product and variant with the intended customer selected. Also note any promotion applied to the basket.
None, defaults and loyalty
None is a visible assignment choice, while group setup has a separate Default group? setting. Review the configured default when a customer has no explicit group, then verify the effective assignment in the relevant sales channel. The group’s Loyalty percent, customer credit limit and product selling prices are separate settings.
If a price still looks wrong
Check the actual customer selected for the sale, its saved group, the product and variant, Default/Override price rows and active promotions. Include those details and the expected price when asking support to investigate.
Review the default group
Also check the configured default group when a customer has no explicit assignment. With customer groups enabled, that fallback can determine the group used for pricing. Test the same customer and product after an intended assignment change.
When groups are reorganised
Check the configured default as well as the customer’s saved assignment. Before removing an old group, choose the intended replacement for its customers and check product prices and promotion eligibility. Do not assume deleting a group transfers all its rules to the replacement.
