Delete a customer group
Review a customer group’s dependencies before deleting it. Group deletion is not a way to delete the customers themselves, refund their purchases or deliberately choose a replacement pricing arrangement.
Prepare before deletion
- Open Orders & Customers → Customer Groups and identify the exact group. Check its details if names are similar.
- Record the Title, Default group? and Loyalty percent where available.
- Identify customers assigned to it and decide which group they should use afterwards. Use customer group assignment for intended customer changes.
- Review product group-price rows, category restrictions, group-specific discounts and any other rules referring to the group. Prepare the replacement arrangement before removing the old reference.
- If this is the default group, deliberately choose and verify the intended replacement first. Do not rely on deletion to pick the replacement you want.
- Record representative prices and eligibility outcomes so you can compare them after the change.
Understand the fallback risk
Customers previously assigned to a deleted group need their effective group checked. They may use the account’s default arrangement afterwards. This can affect prices or eligibility even if you have not edited those product or promotion rules. Do not assume deletion transfers every dependent setting to another named group.
Remove the intended group
- Find the group in the Customer Groups list and select its Delete control.
- Read Delete Customer Group?. Cancel if you have not completed the dependency checks or selected the wrong group.
- Confirm only when you intend to remove that group.
- Wait for the list to refresh, then check the remaining groups and Default marker.
- Review the affected customers and dependent rules. Compare representative prices, category access and promotions in each channel you use.
If you are unsure whether deletion completed
Reopen the list and check before repeating the action. A connection interruption does not establish whether the group was removed. Contact support with the group title, previous default and assignment details, time and any message if the result remains uncertain. Do not assume Undo is available.
Check existing orders and customer balances separately if they are part of your investigation. Removing a group does not itself provide evidence of a transaction correction or payment movement.
