Correct a recorded stock holding
A holding correction sets the recorded quantity to an intended total. Check the reason, item and location before editing the number.
Check the context
- Open Catalogue & Stock → Stock Management.
- Choose the intended single outlet and find the product or variant.
- Review the current quantity, identifier and option description. Confirm whether stock is tracked on the product or its variants.
- Check whether you are in the normal holding-edit view or a receiving mode. The same entered number can have a different purpose in those workflows.
Enter the intended holding
- Use the row’s current-stock value or Edit stock control to open its entry field.
- Enter the intended New stock value for the holding correction.
- Check the exact product/variant and outlet again.
- Select the row’s Save for the intended correction, or Cancel to leave the value unchanged.
- Reload the relevant stock view and compare the saved quantity with your expected holding.
- Keep the reason and supporting count or reference with the adjustment.
Example: count versus delivery
If the physical count is eight and the record shows ten, a holding correction sets the total to eight. If eight new units arrive when ten were already held, that is a receipt of eight and the intended total is eighteen. Choose the appropriate workflow before entering the number.
When to use another workflow
Use Receive Stock or the supplier-order receipt process for deliveries, a transfer for location movements and Stock Audit for a documented count-and-review process.
If the result differs
Check the saved location and option, the mode used and any concurrent sales, receipts or transfers. Inspect the current value before repeating the change. A second submission in a receiving route can add units again.
Keyboard use and mode checks
In the holding editor, Enter can submit the row's value; do not use it as a way to move to the next field. Use Cancel or Escape to leave the row editor without applying the change. In a receiving mode, the entered number adds units instead of replacing the holding. If you cannot establish the mode and target location, stop and review the stock workflow before saving.
The row editor is a quantity correction, not a reasoned stock-audit document. Keep the count or adjustment explanation separately and use Stock Audit when you need its count-and-review process.

Product stock and a location reference
The product editor shows Stock total and an Edit outlet stock control in Advanced. Keep the product’s tracking level and quantities separate from Stock Location, which is a text reference such as a shelf or bin. Use the Stock Management correction steps above when you intend to set a holding at the selected outlet, and check the saved quantity after reloading.
