How can we help?

Edit a category’s metadata

Use the category editor’s SEO tab for its metadata. Keep the wording accurate for that category’s products and purpose.

Review and update the fields

  1. Open Catalogue & Stock → Categories / Departments.
  2. Find the intended category and select its Edit control. Check the title and parent path on General so you do not change a similarly named range.
  3. Select SEO.
  4. Review Meta Title, Meta Keywords and Meta Description.
  5. Enter accurate wording for the intended category. Use a clear title and a short description of the range; avoid claims that do not apply to the products.
  6. Select Save changes & close, then reopen the same category to check the stored text.
  7. Review the resulting category page in the intended storefront. Check its actual title and metadata as well as the visible category heading.

Example: a focused category description

For a canvas tote range, a title such as “Canvas tote bags” and a description that explains the available styles are more useful than a vague “Products” label. Include only features that apply to the range.

Keep different fields distinct

The category’s General Title and Description are separate from its SEO fields. The Extra tab provides five optional Extra Category Info fields. Their display depends on how your storefront uses them; do not use them as a substitute for SEO fields without checking the theme.

If the storefront result differs

Confirm the intended category and storefront, reopen the saved fields, and compare the actual page. Report which field differs and which page you checked so support can distinguish a stored-value issue from theme presentation.

Using the Extra tab

  1. Open the intended category and select Extra.
  2. Review Extra Category Info 1–5 and note which fields your theme actually uses.
  3. Enter the intended text without treating those fields as SEO metadata.
  4. Save deliberately, reopen the category and inspect the resulting storefront location.

Switching tabs does not save. If you only reviewed values, Cancel or Close without another save. Keep a note of the field number and storefront page when asking about a presentation difference.
