Switch off or delete a discount
When a promotion ends, decide whether you want to keep its settings for future use or remove the rule. Review any advertised dates and codes as part of the change.
Switch an offer off and retain its settings
- Open Catalogue & Stock → Discounts/Promotions/Offers.
- Find the intended offer and choose Edit. Check its title, type and code so you do not change a similarly named rule.
- Find Live? and select No.
- Select Save changes & close.
- Reopen the rule and confirm that Live? remains No.
- Check a fresh basket in each sales channel where the offer was used. Check any already-open basket separately before continuing the sale.
Keep a record of the change and remove or update promotion wording wherever customers see it. Switching a rule off does not reverse a completed sale or issue a refund.
Use an offer again
Before changing Live? back to Yes, review the entire rule: selected products and categories, exclusions, dates, code, customer group, method, amount, quantity and usage settings, combinations and priority. An old offer’s dates, product range or prices may no longer match the promotion you intend. Save deliberately and test the intended baskets before advertising it again.
Delete a rule deliberately
- Record the rule’s settings first if you may need to refer to them later.
- Find the intended rule in the discount list and select Delete.
- Read Delete Discount?. If you only wanted to keep the rule inactive, cancel the confirmation and use Live? No instead.
- Confirm only when you intend to remove that rule.
- Wait for the list to refresh and check the result. Do not assume an Undo or recovery option is available.
If the result is uncertain
If saving or deletion is interrupted, reopen the list and inspect the rule before repeating the action. A missing response does not establish whether the request was applied. If you cannot establish the result, contact support with the title, code, time and any message. Check affected sales separately; changing a rule is not a correction to an existing transaction.
