Review or set a customer’s credit limit
A customer’s Credit Limit is an account setting. Review the shop’s approved amount and current account records before changing it. Customer-group pricing and loyalty points are separate settings.
Review the customer
- Find the exact customer in Customer List and compare identifying information.
- Review their existing on-account orders, payments and any unresolved balance query.
- Open Edit and find Credit Limit.
- For an intended authorised change, enter the approved amount and review the other fields before Save changes.
- Reopen the record and verify the value, then check the intended account-payment eligibility at the relevant till or checkout.
Limit versus credit available
A configured limit and the amount available for a new purchase are different values. Existing orders, payments and shop-specific account features can affect the account state. Investigate the actual records rather than raising the limit merely to bypass a missing tender.
Example: a customer can no longer buy on account
Confirm the selected customer, saved limit, outstanding orders and recorded payments. A payment received but not correctly recorded or allocated can need reconciliation rather than another sale or a larger limit.
Check the channel
Till account tender eligibility and the webshop’s configured payment methods need their own checks. Saving a limit does not prove that every checkout offers On Account.
Record an account sale · Receive an account payment.
Review Savings Club separately
The editor may show Allow unallocated payments on account to be used in addition to credit limit – (Savings Club)? with Yes/No choices. This is separate from Credit Limit, points and delivery choices. Record the current selection and inspect unallocated payments before an intended change. Do not enable it to bypass a disputed balance; verify account eligibility in the channel used.
If the saved limit does not resolve the problem
- Reopen the exact customer record and compare the saved Credit Limit with the intended amount.
- Confirm that this customer is selected in the sale. A similarly named customer may have different account records.
- Review outstanding orders, received payments and allocations. Keep the configured limit separate from credit currently available.
- Check the channel’s account-payment setup, including the till’s account tender settings where applicable.
- If the balance is disputed, preserve the references and reconcile them before changing the limit or recording another payment.
