Review the PayPal account link
Check which PayPal method is configured before following connection instructions. An email-based linking method and a method asking for API username/password/signature have different setup fields.
Review the linked-account method
- Open Payment Methods and the intended PayPal method.
- Review Display title, PayPal email address and Environment.
- Under Link to PayPal, read whether the account is linked.
- If linking is intended, Link your PayPal account opens the provider permissions flow. An existing link can offer Check Permissions instead.
- In the actual provider flow, verify the intended merchant, named third party and requested permissions before an authorised approval. Do not approve an unexpected identity merely because an old support screenshot showed another name.
Check the result
After an intended link, reopen the method and inspect its current linked message and account settings. Review Active separately and save only the intended configuration. A linked message alone is not evidence that a particular checkout payment settled.
If the fields differ
If your method asks for API username, API password or API signature, keep that method’s identity and fields for support. Do not substitute a PayPal login password or copy settings between different PayPal integrations.
If permissions or payments fail
Record the method, merchant account identity, environment, exact message and order/provider references. Check provider permissions and actual payment outcome before retrying a charge. Keep passwords, tokens and private credentials out of screenshots and support messages.
