How can we help?

Review checkout company and tax-number fields

Checkout company details are separate from the business information you enter for your own shop. Review what the customer is asked to supply.

Review the controls

  1. Open Global Settings → General and the online-shop settings section.
  2. Find In Checkout include Company Name field? and review Yes/No.
  3. Find In Checkout include VAT/Tax Number field? and review its separate Yes/No choice.
  4. Review Note for VAT/Tax Number field. Use wording that explains the actual business process.
  5. For an intended change, review the rest of the form and use Save Settings.

Check the customer experience

Reopen the stored settings, then review the intended checkout for anonymous and signed-in customers where relevant. Check field labels, note placement, whether values are required and where entered values appear on the resulting customer/order documents. Do not infer requiredness or validation from a show/hide switch.

Example: explain why you ask

If the business collects a tax number for a particular trade process, the note should explain that process accurately. Displaying a number field does not itself establish number validation or change the order’s tax treatment.

If a field or note is missing

Confirm the saved choices, storefront and actual checkout step. Record the device, anonymous/signed-in state and current template for support before changing multiple settings.
