How can we help?

Review an existing iPad print-bridge setup

Some older iPad installations use a print bridge to make another printer available through an iOS printing route. Check the exact model and current support position before planning changes.

Identify the existing route

  1. Record the iPad, app/browser and printer model.
  2. Identify any separate print-bridge device, its model and the printer connection.
  3. Record the working network and the printer offered in the iPad’s print controls.
  4. Check the manufacturer’s current support and exact printer compatibility information.
  5. Use one saved order or test receipt to check the layout and physical output before relying on a changed setup.

Legacy xPrintServer Office

Lantronix lists xPrintServer Office model XPS1002FC-02-S as discontinued, with archived resources. See the manufacturer’s lifecycle information. An old broad compatibility statement is not confirmation that your current printer and iPad will work.

Check the exact printer and edition

Use Lantronix’s compatibility resource for the correct bridge edition. Its Office section requires PostScript support, which may be an optional printer feature. Check the exact printer’s specifications under printer languages or PDL. The page separates Office from Cloud Print; do not transfer compatibility from one edition to the other.

A listed brand alone does not confirm your model, installed printer options or current iPad printing route. If you cannot establish the exact combination, give support the bridge edition, printer model and language options before buying hardware or changing a working setup.

Find the instructions for an existing Office Edition

Lantronix’s archived Office Edition user guide is part 900-640-R, revision C, June 2015. Match its edition with your device before using it. Chapter 2 covers hardware connections; chapter 3 covers navigation and printing.

  1. Record whether the printer connects to the bridge by USB or through the network. The manual distinguishes these routes; a USB printer connected to a computer is a different arrangement.
  2. Have the administrator compare the existing network and printer configuration with the matching manual. Record the printer name offered on the iPad.
  3. On a supported working route, open an existing saved receipt and its iPad print controls. Check the intended printer and copy count before printing, then inspect the paper output.

The manual is archived documentation, not confirmation of compatibility with current operating systems.

Do not use the archived Cloud Print setup

The manual includes Google Cloud Print chapters. Google confirms that Cloud Print is no longer supported. Those chapters are not a current Android or Chrome printing recipe. Use the route guide for the intended platform.

Example: a USB receipt printer behind a bridge

The iPad may see the printer through the bridge rather than through a direct printer integration. Identify both devices when reporting a problem so support can distinguish discovery, receipt layout and physical output.

If output stops

Keep the exact device/printer/bridge details and error. Compare whether the printer is offered, whether a job was sent and whether paper emerged. Confirm current supported options with support before replacing a working route or buying hardware.
