Export Magento or Adobe Commerce products for migration
Identify the exact Magento or Adobe Commerce version first. Older Magento menus differ from current Adobe Commerce documentation; do not assume every version uses the same export screen.
Export from a current compatible Adobe Commerce Admin
- Follow Adobe’s current export guidance for the installed version.
- Open System → Data Transfer → Export.
- Select the Products entity and the CSV format.
- Review any filters and excluded attributes. Check the intended export scope before continuing.
- Start the export and use the resulting completion/file information to obtain the CSV.
- Keep an untouched original and check its record count and representative identifiers.
Check filters and excluded attributes
Searching or resetting the displayed attribute list is separate from filtering exported products. Use the attribute’s Filter value for the intended product scope. Review Exclude separately, then inspect the completed CSV’s actual headers and values: an excluded attribute may still have an empty column. A source export choice does not establish how ShopTill-e treats a blank or omitted field.
If the file is not ready
Adobe describes a background export. Wait for completion and obtain the original through your source system’s normal process. If it is missing, keep the export time, criteria and message for the source administrator before starting duplicate requests.
Map before importing
Work on a separate copy. Compare the source columns and product/variant/category model with the current ShopTill-e requirements. A source export is not automatically a ready-to-import ShopTill-e file.
Example: a filtered export
If you export only one product range for a trial migration, record that filter and compare the resulting records with the intended sample. Do not treat its count as the whole catalogue.
If your menus differ
Stop and check the documentation for the installed source version with its administrator. Keep the source version and intended scope with your migration plan rather than adapting an old menu path by trial and error.
