How can we help?

Verify your WebShop in Google Search Console

Search Console is Google’s website search-management service. Use the exact public address of your shop and a Google account authorised to manage it.

Choose the appropriate method

Google supports an HTML tag for a URL-prefix property. A Domain property requires DNS verification instead. See Google’s ownership-verification guidance before choosing.

Use the HTML-tag route

  1. In Search Console, choose the intended URL-prefix property, matching HTTPS and the exact hostname.
  2. Select the HTML tag method offered for that property and copy its complete verification meta tag.
  3. In Builder, open Global Settings → General → Online shop.
  4. Find Additional META tags. Keep a copy of the current contents and preserve any existing tags that must remain.
  5. Add the exact tag supplied for the intended owner. Review the form before choosing Save Settings.
  6. Open the actual public homepage and confirm the tag appears in its HTML head, including after any address redirect. Ask support to check if it is absent.
  7. Return to the intended Search Console property and use its verification action. Read the actual result.

Example: www and the main domain

A property for an HTTPS www address is not the same URL-prefix property as the address without www. Follow the actual public destination and verify the intended property rather than copying a tag into an unrelated storefront.

If verification fails

Check the chosen property, complete tag, public homepage and exact error. Keep the tag in place after successful verification. Do not replace other owners’ tags or change domain records just to try a different method.

Review and submit a sitemap · Domain and HTTPS setup.

Preserve the existing homepage additions

The Additional META tags box may already contain other website markup. Keep a copy of its complete contents before editing and add the verification tag without removing unrelated entries. If you are unsure where to insert it, ask support before saving.

Check the address shown after the public homepage has finished loading. If your shop address redirects to a custom domain, use the intended public destination when choosing and checking the property. Seeing the tag in the homepage head is one check; Google’s successful verification result is a separate check.
