Prepare browser receipt printing
Use this for receipts sent through the computer’s normal browser-printing route. Confirm that the exact printer is installed and working through its current manufacturer instructions first.
Choose the receipt
- Open the intended saved order or test receipt and check its reference.
- Use its receipt-print action and inspect the browser preview where offered.
- Check the selected destination is the receipt printer, not an office printer or PDF output.
- Review the available paper size, orientation, scale and margins against the actual roll and printer requirements.
- Review browser-generated headers and footers where the dialog offers them. These can add page addresses or dates separately from the receipt itself.
- Check the whole receipt in preview, print one copy to the intended printer and inspect the physical result.
Example: an address at the bottom
If a date or page address appears outside the receipt design, check the browser’s header/footer option before editing the shop receipt template. Chrome’s printing guidance distinguishes generated headers/footers from page margins.
If the receipt is clipped or very small
Compare actual paper width, driver paper setup, scale and margins. Change one intended setting at a time and check the result. Do not assume zero margins or a setting shown for another printer is correct for your hardware.
Check Chrome’s actual destination
Chrome’s print preview can start with the most recently used printer rather than the computer’s default printer. A managed browser can be configured to use the system default instead. Check the destination shown for this receipt; do not infer it just from the operating system’s printer setting. See Google’s Chrome administrator printing guidance for the System Default Printer choice.
If a receipt went to the wrong place, inspect the saved order first. Reopen the intended receipt and choose the correct destination for a deliberate reprint, rather than completing another sale to produce a copy.
Remove a browser-added address or date
- Open the intended receipt in ordinary print preview and confirm its destination.
- Review the browser's additional print settings for its headers-and-footers choice. Turn that choice off when the unwanted page address or date comes from the browser.
- Check the preview again, including the top and bottom of the complete receipt. Keep the shop's own receipt information distinct from browser-generated additions.
- Review paper, margins and scale separately, then check one deliberate print on the intended printer.
- Recheck the choice after reopening the browser or changing printers. Do not assume another browser, profile or destination retains the same setting.
If the unwanted wording remains in the receipt design, retain the exact text and receipt reference for support. Removing a browser footer is a different task from changing the shop's own receipt footer.
Firefox print headers and footers
- With the intended receipt page open, choose Firefox's menu button, then Print.
- Confirm the Destination is the intended printer.
- Expand More settings and review Print headers and footers. Clear that choice when you intend to omit Firefox's additions.
- Review paper size, scale and margins for the actual printer, then check the preview before choosing Print.
- Inspect the physical receipt. A PDF preview or a closed print dialog does not establish printer output.
Follow Mozilla's printing instructions if the interface differs. These describe ordinary Firefox printing; silent output is a separate setup.
Before trading
Check the intended printer remains selected after reopening the browser. If printing will be silent, have that route checked separately. An acceptable PDF preview does not prove that the physical printer, cutter or drawer works.

Open the ordinary Chrome print preview
With the intended receipt page open, use the browser’s Print command. In Chrome on Windows or Linux, Ctrl+P opens printing; on a Mac, use Command+P. Select the intended destination and review its available settings before committing the job. See Google’s printing instructions. Follow the printer manufacturer’s setup instructions for the actual device.
If you need to adjust an established silent-print route, ask the device administrator to use its agreed maintenance process and restore ordinary preview where appropriate. Recheck paper, destination and physical output before restoring silent operation. Do not copy another checkout’s launch options as a printer repair.
